Betty and Johannes Berie founders of the German Bakery in Costa Rica are Germans and bakers at heart with a master\u00b4s certificate in bakery, from one of the technical institutes of his country.
\u00a8 We came to Costa Rica in 1993, having been persuaded by all our friends\u2019 favorable comments about this wonderful country. Little by little Hans started a small bakery business. \u00a8<\/p>\n\n\n\n


We make our German-quality bread in an old traditional wood oven. Since the very beginning, we have introduced to Costa Rica dinner tables and food services more than 100 varieties of bread. One of our most important features is that we grind our own grains and flour. This allows us to work with naturally fermented doughs, like the best antique traditional German style. As well we use fresh ground grains and flour in all our recipes which come from a longstanding traditional German Heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Nowadays in 2023, the \u00a8small bakery business\u00a8 has completely evolved into the well-known Restaurant and Pizzeria Europa \u2013 Powered by The German Bakery. We are in the top leading quality restaurants in the province of Guanacaste and the whole country. Providing our guests with a blended gastronomy that combines Costa Rican, German, and Italian dishes. We have been working with an Italian restauranteur, that helped us improve not only our food but also our service, quick response, and efficiency because our clients are the most important to us. The only thing we want is for you to leave our beautiful place with the will to come back as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


We invite you from our hearts to come to try our old-style traditional Italian pizza manipulated only by hand and made with a 24-hour fermented dough. Try our homemade Fettuccini, Ravioli, and Pappardelle blended with different delicious sauces. You can find here typical German food of the best quality such as Currywurst, Gulasch, Bratwurst, Schnitzel, and more. If you are a tourist and you\u2019re looking for a Costa Rican touch, come and enjoy our delicious Typical Casado\u2019s, breakfast Gallo pinto, Rice with chicken or shrimp, and other options. The best of all is that we have a complete Vegan and Gluten Free menu available with delicious options for all our Vegan Clients. Of course, we have a kid’s menu and have just finished remodeling our playground, children will have fun before having their meal.
At the end of your breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner you may walk by our Cafeteria buy a dessert out of more than 20 options, and take some of the best quality bread that you won\u2019t find anywhere else in the country. We also make birthday & wedding cakes, events, and catering services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
